How to Enable Notes Tab in User Entity?

Last week we have received a client request to attach a document with each userprofile in MSCRM. It looks pretty easy at first sight and we have come up with two options. Firstly, we decided to go for SharePoint document library integration with MSCRM. But we neither want to create a document library for each user nor do we want to create a folder for a single user as managing rights over folders in SharePoint is not possible in 2003 version.  Our second option was to go for enabling Notes Tab at User entity form and then attaching the file with that notes entity.  When I opened the User entity in customization view, I found that there is a relationship of User entity with Notes entity and secondly in User entity Form Notes was checked in Associated Entities as shown in the figure below:

But there is no Notes Tab in User form. Now here come the issues. I tried to introduce Notes tab by copying FormXml for Notes tab from some entity and paste it in the User entity and import it to my MSCRM at development machine as follows:

<tab id=”{fc4a9357-e441-4608-be78-d22083831a38}” IsUserDefined=”0″> <labels> <label description=”Notes” languagecode=”1033″ /> </labels> <sections> <section showlabel=”true” showbar=”true” locklevel=”1″ id=”{28329cee-1da2-4f77-9767-c4887240b0b8}” IsUserDefined=”0″ height=”auto”> <labels> <label description=”Notes” languagecode=”1033″ /> </labels> <rows> <row> <cell colspan=”2″ showlabel=”false” rowspan=”5″ auto=”true”> <labels> <label description=”Note Text” languagecode=”1033″ /> </labels> <control id=”notescontrol” classid=”{06375649-c143-495e-a496-c962e5b4488e}” /> </cell> </row> <row /> <row /> <row /> <row height=”auto” /> </rows> </section> </sections> </tab>

By doing this, I will be able to show the Notes Tab at User Form but it never work as shown in the following figure.

Next day I received a response from some newsgroup group that it’s not possible and not supported in current version of MSCRM to enable notes tab in existing entities. Although client request has been fulfilled with SharePoint solution, I am still looking for a feasible solution of my problem in MSCRM.

Not that I’m totally impressed, but this is more than I expected for when I found a link on Digg telling that the info is awesome. Thanks.
